Abandoned Courthouse Dakar

Last Saturday I walked with a friend into the former Courthouse of Dakar, abandoned since the end of the 1990's. The floors are covered with personal documents, fingerprints, police reports etc, all under a thick layer of dust, for anybody to see and pick up.

Dakar: rehearsals for Dutch Art Project 'Handle with Care'

Sunday March 15 at my house: rehearsals with wonderful Senegalese actresses, discussing the problems concerning female trafficking and forced prostitution for the beautiful art project 'Handle with Care' of Dutch artists Jimini Hignett and Patricia Kaersenhout. Almost all of the actresses knew someone who was lured or almost lured into the trafficking trap. Thanks Rosalie van Deursen for making the connection for this great team of Jimini, Patricia and Cheikhou Diarra, who found these great actresses.

World AIDS Day: free HIV test at Dutch Embassy in Senegal

Zij testten HIV-positief.

IN DEVELOPMENT - WOMEN OF WAALO | A STORY OF RESISTANCE

In West-Africa, a story is told from generation to generation. The story of the Women of Waalo, from the northwest of Senegal. It is an impressive story of resistance in which the women of this region massively said 'No'. This small word had a huge impact. A collective loss resulted in the rise of female leaders in a continent full of slavery.
